Architectura Mundi – Chess set with 32 pieces

Architectura Mundi transforms iconic architecture into six distinctive chess pieces. A domed building with minarets forms the King, a richly structured palace with a crown the Queen, and a towering cathedral the Bishop. The curved opera house takes the role of the Knight, the filigree lattice tower stands ready as the Rook, and a classic town house facade becomes the Pawn. Uniformly turned bases unite the architectural miniatures into an extraordinary ensemble.

SIZES

• Medium: piece height approx. 5–7 cm
• Large: piece height approx. 6–9 cm
• XLarge: piece height approx. 7.5–11 cm

The size selection applies to the complete set. The height of the individual pieces varies according to their role.

COLORS AND SURFACES

Printed color pairs: Gold / Silver, Gold / Black, Gold / White, Gold / Bronze, Silver / Black, Silver / White, Silver / Bronze, Black / White, Black / Bronze, and White / Bronze.

The printed versions are monochromatic per side and not subsequently painted. Depressions have the same material color as the rest of the piece; no dark patina is applied.

Hand-painted color pairs: Silver / Gold and Silver / Bronze. The black primer remains visible in the depressions; the raised forms are emphasized with metallic-looking acrylic paint. Color application, shading, and gloss may vary.

Gold, silver, and bronze refer to the color or finish, not the material. The first color belongs to one side, the second to the opposing side. Screen display and material batches can influence the color impression.

SCOPE OF DELIVERY

A complete set of 32 chess pieces in the selected size and color finish. Chessboard, pedestal, and decoration are not included.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATIONS

The product images are digital visualizations based on the model files, not photos of already manufactured specimens. They show the intended shapes and color finishes. The print surface and individual painting may deviate from the appearance shown. The white overview shows the six piece shapes individually. The title image shows twelve examples of the pieces – six silver on top and six gold on the bottom – on two pedestal steps; the complete set of 32 pieces will be delivered.

The pieces are manufactured from PLA using 3D printing. Painted variants additionally receive primer and acrylic paint. Fine layer lines and small surface characteristics are part of this manufacturing process. Not suitable for children under 3 years due to small parts that could be swallowed.

Domes, minarets, towers, roof spires, lattices, and facade details are integral parts of the respective model shape; there are no moving or illuminated parts.
